1946

He worked as a press photographer and picture editor from the late 1960s. He started to publish his works in the international press in the 1980s. His albums: Búcsú a cigányteleptől (Farewell to the Roma Ghetto, 1977), Csaba kórházba megy (Csaba Goes to Hospital, 1982), Parlament (Parliament, 1985), Szicília (Sicily, 1987), Róma (Rome, 1988), Budai Várnegyed (Buda Castle, 1989), Amerikai Nyugat (American West, 1993), Budapest, egy város az ezredfordulón (Budapest, a City at the Turn of the Millennium, 1996), New York (2000), Budapest (2000, 2002). He has had nearly 100 solo exhibitions all around the world. Selected awards: Balázs Béla Prize, World Press Photo award, Pulitzer Prize, Howard Chapnick Grant (USA). He has been head of the press photographer programme of the Budapest Metropolitan University since 2012. He has been organizing the World Press Photo exhibitions for 26 years.
