After earning a vocational certificate in photography, he completed the press photographer programme of the Journalism School of the Association of Hungarian Journalists. He worked for the Hungarian News Agency, and was a photographer at Népszava between 1979–1989. Between 1980–1990, he took part in the work of the Nagybaracska Social Documentary Photography Creative Community. One of the founders of the Chamber of Hungarian Press Photographers, he was its secretary until 1995, and deputy president until 1998. He was picture editor of Világ between 1989–1991. In 1994 he relaunched the monthly Fotó, as its editor-in-chief. He was editor-in-chief of Fotográfia between 1996–1999, the picture editor of HVG from 1997, and its contributing editor from 2014. In 1992 he was awarded the Balogh Rudolf Prize. Solo exhibition: Candor 1980–2000 (Mai Manó House, 2004).
