Imre Drégely

1960

He first took up photography in the mid-1980s, and he has been featured at exhibitions in Hungary and abroad since 1984. He is the member of several groups that represent progressive thought in photography. He graduated at the Hungarian College of Applied Art (now MOME) in 1994. He received the Pécsi József Scholarship between 1992–1994, and he has been a member of the Hungarian Photographers’ Association and the Association of Hungarian Creative Artists since 1994. In 2007 he was awarded the Balogh Rudolf Prize. He believes in pure photography, whose motivations are artistic. In the recent years he has been exploring ways of synthesising digital imaging and various alternative photographic procedures. As a part of the project which he began in 2006, he makes large sequences and photo matrices. He teaches at the Photography Department of MOME.
