In 1956, as a teenager, he photographed the scenes of the revolution. The photos he made at the time were found in 2005, and have since been shown around the world. His career as an artist began in 1969, with the SZÜRENON exhibition. Up until 1981, he only showed his works at visual arts exhibitions, as a member of the New Hungarian Avant-garde. Initially he made large non-figurative photos, then, from 1973, he prepared, either on his own or with Sándor Csutoros and József Molnár V., important conceptual works that reflected on the conditions of culture and politics in the country. In 2001 he was awarded the Balogh Rudolf Prize, and in 2003 the Demeter Prize. He has been a member of the Hungarian Academy of Art since 2007.
